You Don’t Need to Be!
You’ll be greeted by friendly people and if you come a little early on Sunday morning you can join us for some hot coffee and tasty treats!
Loving and experienced teachers will help your child feel safe and at home as they encounter children’s ministry like they have never experienced it before. For those with younger children we offer an attended nursery and nursing moms will discover that our nursery provides privacy while still being able to enjoy the service.
Folks often wonder what they should wear. That’s easy, wear whatever is comfortable for you.
Come and Join Us
Services usually last about one hour and we consider them to be a celebration so expect lively music, hand clapping and other heartfelt expressions of worship. After the congregational singing you will hear an engaging and challenging message from our pastor who has ministered in churches around the world.
Come as you are but expect to leave transformed by your encounter with God!
About the Bible
Though the Bible is an ancient book it is still relevant to everyday life in the 21st century. The Bible is indeed the only written word of God, it is without error in all that it affirms and is our sole rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
There is only One true and living God who has revealed Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ, the express image of God to His creation, is the only hope that man has for salvation. This hope is made possible because of the Good News that Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose again. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Hebrews 1:3, John 14:6, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
There isn’t one person who is good and everyone has sinned and is in need of salvation. Salvation is available by grace through faith because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. (Jeremiah 17:9, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8)
As the author of salvation, Jesus made it clear that to enter the Kingdom of God a person needed to be born again. Peter presented this born again message to believers at Jerusalem and told them that they needed to repent, be baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Hebrews 5:9, John 3:3-5, Matthew 16:19, Acts 2:38).
Man was created as an eternal being and can either live in eternity with God or he will live eternally estranged from God. Every man once he dies will come face to face with his maker and whether he will enter the Kingdom of God will depend on whether he was born again or not. (Genesis 1:27, Revelation 20:12, Hebrews 9:27, John 3:3-5).
Miracles still happen today and many people at the Word of Life have experienced one for themselves. Whether the need is physical, emotional or spiritual – God has not changed and still performs miracles today. (Mark 16:18, Hebrews 13:8)
The Word of Life has established these core values that identify and define who we are and that guide our future plans and objectives.
1. Every believer is empowered to serve when they receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
2 We can expect miracles when we follow Christ.
3. Since everyone is important to God, He wants us to love and respect everyone.
4. We are strengthened by coming together for prayer and worship.
5. We are committed to living according to God’s instructions in the Bible.
6. Spiritual authority in the life of believers comes through prayer and fasting.
7. Complete surrender to God puts us in the safest place we can be.
8. We must invest in the next generation by preparing them for Kingdom service today.
9. God and His church deserve excellence in all we do.
Empowered to Serve
Jesus issued what is referred to as the Great Commission when He told His disciples in Matthew 28:19, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations”. We gladly accept this Great Commission with the understanding that the ability to do this is granted by the power of the Holy Spirit – Acts 1:8. We also understand that the Lord has called and empowered every member of the church to fulfill this Great Commission.
Expect the miraculous
Jesus promised His followers that they would do greater miracles than even He performed (John 14:12). The Lord confirmed the Word spread by His disciples with miraculous signs (Mark 16:20) and desires to do those same miracles today!
Everyone is important
God, in His infinite wisdom, has designed each of us with different talents, personalities and potential. Whether someone is a ten talent person or a one talent person, they are equally valuable in God’s eyes – and in ours. We recognize that God wants us to treat everyone with the same love and respect that we would like others to show us – Matthew 7:12.
Strengthened by Togetherness
It pleases the Lord when the members of His Body choose to join together and worship Him – Hebrews 10:25. When we come together, “it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.” – Ephesians 4:16.
Committed and Conformed to the Bible
The Message Bible captures perfectly what we believe concerning the Bible, “Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way” – 2 Timothy 3:16.
Spiritual Authority through Prayer and Fasting
Jesus promised that every believer has the potential to do great signs and wonders (Mark 16:17-18). Jesus also explained to His disciples that increased spiritual authority was available if they would spend more time in prayer and fasting – Mark 9:29.
As Jesus wrestled with submitting to the will of the Father He said, “Father…not my will but yours be done” (Luke 22:42). These words were spoken just hours before Jesus gave His life on Calvary and should reverberate in our hearts as we respond to the Father’s call on our life. Regardless of the call, regardless of the cost – He expects complete surrender.
Invest in the Next Generation
Young people and children are tomorrow’s leaders and it is vital that we begin preparing them today – Proverbs 22:6. Parents, as well as the church, need to be consistent and persistent in preparing the next generation for Kingdom service.
Be the Best That You can Be
God and His church deserve excellence in all we do. There is no excuse for mediocrity when you consider what He has done for us. We are committed to be and do our very best for God with the help and grace of the Lord – Philippians 4:13.
The Prophet Habakkuk received instructions from the Lord concerning vision. The Lord told him, “Write down the vision; write it clearly on clay tablets so whoever reads it can run to tell others.“
Though we’ve moved from clay tablets to digital technology, the principle remains unchanged. We must write down the vision so whoever reads it can run and tell others. With that in mind, the Word of Life would like to share the vision the Lord has given them so “whoever reads it can run to tell others.”
The vision of the Word of Life is to be a dynamic, spirit-filled, multi-cultural congregation that intentionally seeks and develops Christ-followers some of whom will help plant new works in eastern South Dakota.
